Creates and follows curriculum lesson plans. Maintains camp documentation and data. Works collaboratively with the Camp Coordinator and Camp Assistant. Exhibits professionalism as a role model. Adheres to SCF policies and procedures. Ensures a healthy and safe camp environment and assumes overall responsibility for classroom management. Applicants may be asked to demonstrate any or all of the following duties: • Develops and delivers organized and engaging camp curriculum through activities to youth. • Works collaboratively with the Camp Coordinator and Camp Assistant to prepare and maintain facilities, equipment and supplies for camp activities and maintaining documentation of inventory to accommodate class sizes. • Creates a fun camp experience for youth full of designing, interacting, inventing, communicating, and problem solving, while gaining valuable teamwork skills. • Assists the Camp Coordinator in meeting camp goals, coordinating experiential learning such as field trips and guest speakers, prioritizing the health and safety of campers, promoting the camp program, and evaluating each week's success through debriefings. • Serves as a problem solver regarding classroom management issues that arise, including but not limited to camper disciplinary remediation or health/safety issues, maintaining an efficient, smooth-running schedule with minimal unscheduled interruptions. Reports issues to the Camp Coordinator and provides feedback regarding all camp activities. • Performs other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Education/Experience: Associate's degree from a two-year college or university and experience with K-12 curriculum. • Supervisory Experience: Experience in coaching, advising, and mentoring preferred. • Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze and interpret texts, periodicals, journals, equipment instructions and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, campers, parents, sponsors, SCF staff, and the public. • Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret graphs. • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, chart or schedule form. • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office experience is preferred. • Certificates and Licenses: None required. Responsibility for People and Property: Oversees the camp staff in their daily camp activities with campers, parents, sponsors, and guest speakers. Maintains camp equipment, facilities and supplies in safe working order. Responsibility for Communication: • Internal Contacts: Routine contact with all levels of SCF Camp students, parents, and staff. • External Contacts: Contact with camp visitors, sponsors, guest speakers, and occasional visitors touring SCF facilities.
