Camp Coordinator, STEAM Salary: See Position Description Location: Venice Job Type: Full Time Department: Lifelong Learning and Workforce Development Job Number: 202300189 Closing: Continuous Job Summary The Lifelong Learning and Workforce Development department is seeking a Camp Coordinator. This is a seasonal/temporary part time position. Hiring range $25-$35 hourly. The position of Camp Coordinator is responsible for supervising the daily activities of the SCF Camp. The Camp Coordinator will develop and monitor camp activities to meet camp goals. Will serve as a positive role model to youth campers and staff. Will supervise the Camp Instructors, Camp Assistants and all camp volunteers in camp activities including but not limited to camp activities, set up, clean up, transportation, field trips, guest speaker presentations, maintenance of facilities, equipment and supplies, and activity scheduling maintenance to ensure a consistent and high-quality learning experience through rigorous camper engagement. Provides overall supervision of camp staff and daily activities ensuring a consistent and high-quality learning experience through rigorous camper engagement. Oversees and facilitates camper disciplinary remediation as necessary between camp staff and campers/parents.2. Develops and directs camp activities to meet camp goals.3. Manages camp facilities, equipment, and supplies, ensuring safe working order and quantities to accommodate class sizes.4. Coordinates supplemental camp activities such as field trips and guest speakers, including details for transportation, security/safety, and waivers/documentation.5. Monitors the safety of campers and camp staff at all times.6. Assists with promotion of the SCF Camp by ensuring documentation of camp activities using traditional, digital, and electronic media/processes. Generates camper recruitment efforts when needed. Initiates press contacts as appropriate collaborating with the Assistant Dean, Lifelong Learning & Workforce Development.7. Evaluates and documents the success of each camp week through collaborative debriefings with camp staff, campers, parents, sponsors, and guest speakers to ensure quality programming and facilitate enhanced future camp planning.8. Prefer applicants with experience working with K-12 youth in a structured learning program . • Supervisory Experience: One to three years of supervisory experience, including responsibility for training and coaching is preferred. • Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. • Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced knowledge of word processing software, intermediate knowledge of spreadsheets, Internet, email, and database software. Proficiency in the use of current College email and database software essential. • Certificates and Licenses None required. Responsibility for People and Property: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Responsibility for Communication: • Internal Contacts: This position has routine contact with all levels of college faculty, staff, students, and administrators. • External Contacts: This position has routine contact with external contacts such as accrediting agencies, government or other academic institutions, student and or employment applicants, vendors, and the general public, depending on the employing unit.
