Mozart Mass in F Major

Name: Mozart Mass in F Major
Date: November 22, 2015
Time: 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM EST
Event Description:
On Sunday, November 22, the Christ Church Chorale, with soloists and orchestra members from the Sarasota Orchestra, will present Mozart's Mass in F as a morning liturgy. Written during Mozart's Salzburg years, the Mass in F is one of Mozart's brightest liturgical works, and a delight to hear (and sing). The Mass, really titled "Missa brevis" or "short mass" includes settings of the basic parts of the service - Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus and Benedictus, and Agnus Dei. The central Credo is the most expansive movement, and uses a theme that Mozart returned to near the very end of his life, in his last Symphony, "Jupiter". Come early to get your favorite place to sit! This service traditionally draws large crowds. Here's an insider tip: Come about 10:15 am to hear the last of the pre-service rehearsal, so that you can hear some of the music twice!
